About BWIS
Brookhaven Women in Science (BWIS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the advancement of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. BWIS serves as a vital community for scientists, engineers, researchers, and professionals committed to fostering an inclusive scientific environment.
Our mission is to support the professional growth and recognition of women in STEM through mentorship, education, networking, and community engagement. We believe that diverse perspectives strengthen scientific inquiry and that empowering women in science benefits the entire research community.
BWIS offers a range of programs and initiatives to support our mission. Our annual speaker series brings distinguished scientists and thought leaders to share their research and career journeys. We provide scholarships to support the next generation of women scientists and recognize outstanding contributions through our awards program. Our mentorship network connects early-career scientists with experienced professionals, and our regular networking events create opportunities for collaboration and community building.
Membership in BWIS is open to all individuals who support our mission, regardless of gender or institutional affiliation. Members gain access to exclusive events, networking opportunities, mentorship programs, and the chance to contribute to a community that has championed women in science for decades. Whether you are a seasoned researcher, a student just beginning your career, or a supporter of women in STEM, BWIS welcomes your participation.
